A gem of a hotel
Our stay at the Hotel Oro Verde Cuenca was an experience that stays in the heart. From the first moment, we felt an authentic warmth, that feeling of arriving at a place where they really care about you. The hotel is modern, impeccable, and beautiful, but what makes it unique is its people.
I want to deeply thank Sabrina at the front desk, whose kindness and attention made us feel welcome from the very first second. Her way of welcoming, her willingness, and her positive energy transform the arrival into a special moment.
And Elian in the dining room… what an attentive, kind, and helpful human being. Every meal became a memorable moment thanks to his dedication. In addition, the breakfast was delicious and huge, abundant in options, fresh, and served with a warmth that is only found in places where service is lived with passion.
At the Oro Verde, we didn't just rest: they made us feel like royalty. Every detail, every gesture, every interaction speaks of a team that loves what they do and understands what true hospitality means.
Going to the Oro Verde in Cuenca is a safe bet. It is choosing quality, affection, and a service that is remembered with a smile. We will return, without a doubt.

A place to return to
A very safe place, with very comfortable, clean, spacious rooms, good lighting, and no noise. The food in the restaurant was very good, the common areas are clean, spacious, and quiet, the staff is friendly, helpful, and respectful. A place that I recommend with complete confidence.

The Gold Standard for Hospitality in Cuenca
It’s been a long time coming for me to write this review.
My family and I have been staying at Oro Verde Cuenca for many years—since my daughters were little, and my oldest is now 21. Over that time, we’ve stayed at several hotels in Cuenca, including Four Points by Sheraton and Mansion Alcázar. I mention this simply to provide context for this review and to say that our loyalty to Oro Verde comes from experience, not habit.
Oro Verde has always been a beautiful hotel. The facilities have been updated and improved through the years, and its breakfast buffet has long been one of the highlights of every stay. But what has made it our unquestionable first choice in recent years is something much harder to describe: the people.
From the moment you arrive, there is a warmth and attention to detail that makes you feel genuinely welcome. The staff remembers your name, greets you like a returning friend, and somehow manages to anticipate what you need without ever being intrusive. It’s the kind of hospitality that turns a hotel stay into something much more personal.
That is the difference we have found at Oro Verde. While we have stayed at other good hotels in Cuenca, this level of genuine care and personal attention is something we have not experienced elsewhere.
The breakfast buffet deserves special recognition. Without hesitation, I can say it is the best hotel breakfast we’ve experienced in Cuenca. The quality and variety are excellent, and the service is every bit as exceptional as the food itself.
One experience in particular reinforced why we continue to return. During a previous stay, I noticed a couple of small maintenance details in our suite—a bathroom faucet that felt slightly loose and a door that didn’t close perfectly on the first try. They were minor issues, but I felt they were worth bringing to the hotel’s attention.
I shared my observations with María José Maldonado, the lobby manager. What impressed me was not that the issues existed—every hotel occasionally has small things to address—but how quickly and seriously they were taken. Because we usually stay in the same suite, it was immediately apparent on our next visit that everything had been taken care of. That level of responsiveness is rare and speaks volumes about the standards of the hotel and the people behind it.
I would be remiss if I didn’t specifically recognize María José. As longtime guests, we have noticed an even greater emphasis on personalized service, attention to detail, and guest care in recent years, and María José has come to represent those qualities for our family.
Whether it’s remembering personal preferences, making sure everything is perfect for our arrival, following up on feedback, or surprising us with a thoughtful treat in the room, she has a remarkable ability to make guests feel genuinely valued. More than anything, she reflects the warmth, professionalism, and commitment to hospitality that have transformed Oro Verde from one of our preferred hotels into the place we look forward to returning to every time we visit Cuenca.
Whether we visit as a couple or with our two daughters, Oro Verde never disappoints. Time after time, they deliver the same high level of service, professionalism, and warmth that keeps us coming back.
If you are looking for a hotel in Cuenca with great facilities and a level of hospitality that truly sets it apart, I cannot recommend Oro Verde highly enough.
